No, it most certainly doesn't. It would be TERRIBLE if it did. Defile defenses = your best friend vs block stances.

Hammer Warrior: "I am using Devestating Hammer on Schmuck Monk!"
Schmuck Monk: "I am using Disciplined Stance"
Hammer Warrior: "I am using Flail" "I am using Crushing blow" "I am using Mighty Blow" *misses* "I am using....damn..."

Remove that, and Schmuck monk dies instantly with a well placed enchant removal. Bad juju for PvP dynamics.

No, it's not your main reason, because it is your only reason. Numbers 2 - 7 aren't reasons, but only consequences of such a change or ways on how to make that change.
